2020 has been a different year
Which has disrupted our holiday cheer
Throughout the world rages
A virus that is contagious.
There are traditions we must forego,
Like kissing under the mistletoe.
Children are unable to climb on Santa’s knee
By the shopping mall’s Christmas tree.
Santa will still load his sleigh,
Wearing a mask and staying 6 feet away.
We watch church services from home
Remembering we are not alone.
The Grinch (or CoVid) can’t steal Christmas
God’s presence still lights the darkness.
This year is not about getting gifts or stuff.
Love and kindness are enough.
Even though Christmas Choirs are silent,
Our homes can celebrate this Holy night.
Let’s put tolerance and compassion on display
And honor the Christ everyday.
